After an eight-year gap,
Rajeev Khandelwal returns to television as the host of Tum Ho Naa – Ghar Ki Superstar. He says, “I did not even realise that I’m coming back to television after so long. I am someone who just gets excited by projects. For me, everything is a project; the medium comes a little later. When this show was offered to me, it was the show that excited me —the idea excited me, not the medium.”
Rajeev, who became popular with the show Kahiin To Hoga (2003), clarifies that his long absence from television stemmed from a lack of compelling offers rather than a conscious decision to stay away. “I wasn’t getting anything exciting enough for me to take up on television.
They would only come with daily soaps, and I wasn’t prepared to do that.”

But when this show was offered to him, Rajeev says he decided to take it up for his audience. “There are people who have been waiting to see me on television. This show is my way of thanking them for being so patient,” he says. A significant reason for taking up Tum Ho Naa – Ghar Ki Superstar is its focus on women, a demographic that has consistently supported him.
“The larger section that has given me overwhelming love over the years is women,” he says.
Reflecting on his own life, the actor credits the women closest to him for shaping who he is. “The first two names that come to mind are my mother and my wife. My mom pushed me — she brought out my creative side. My wife gives me a reality check every morning. Initially, she questioned my way of working, but she eventually accepted it. She has always given me strength. My modus operandi is not to change according to trends,”
he shares.
